Disney owns Power Rangers, not I.
....
"Dude, you know, I always figured you'd be marrying Tori," Dustin said, patting Cam on the back. Cam stiffened. There was no way Dustin had just said that. Cam looked to Madonna. The look on her face made it pretty clear that he had. Today was supposed to be a celebration. They'd managed to get Cam's friends together at one time to announce the date for the wedding.
If Cam had've looked at anyone else but Madonna, he might have noticed his father taking in his reaction. Or Shane, Blake, and Hunter staring at Dustin in disbelief. He might have noticed that Tori had gone pale and was looking only at the ground.
Madonna turned and walked away. Cam followed her. She'd walked to a part of the park out of earshot of the others before she stopped. She looked straight at Cam. "What do you make of that," she asked, flailing her arms.
Cam shut his eyes. "I'm sorry."
"Dustin should be sorry."
"He didn't mean anything."
"You're going to defend him on this?"
"He's my friend."
"What kind of friend says that?"
"The kind that's not afraid to say what he's thinking. Look, that's Dustin. He shouldn't have said it, but..."
"Do you agree with him?"
"What? No--there was a time when he was right, though. I had every intention of marrying Tori." Cam immediately realized he should have placed his fiancee's feelings over defending his friend.
"Then she broke your heart but left you unable to be satisfied with anyone else?"
"No," Cam contested, but he couldn't help feeling guilty.
"Are you in love with Tori?"
Cam swallowed. Being honest sucked. "I don't know, Madonna. I was at one time. Maybe--maybe I need some time--to sort things out."
"Some time?"
"If I have unresolved issues with Tori, I need to resolve them now. I can't let this come back for us later."
"I guess I have no choice in the matter?"
"Madonna, I have to have some time to think about things." He leaned to kiss her before she left, but she backed away.
"You need time, I need distance."
That hurt. Cam turned to leave.
"Is it because she's a Ranger?" Madonna asked.
Cam jerked around. "What?"
"Can you not marry me because I'm not a Power Ranger? I'm not even a ninja."
"Madonna, I'm a samurai."
"That's not cute, charming, or even funny anymore. Can you not be happy with someone like me? Are we doomed because you were a Power Ranger and I will never be? Is this it?"
"We're not star-crossed, Madonna. I love you."
"Can you honestly tell me it doesn't make any difference that she's a Ranger and I'm not?"
"I don't know. I just don't know anything right now. I need time to think. Just some time."
"You're going to talk to Tori," Madonna surmised.
"Eventually. I have to."
"Don't cheat on me."
"What?"
"If you do, there's no going back. You know that."
"Madonna, I--"
She turned and left.
